EVANGELIZATION: Missionary Month And Synod For Amazonia

The Synod for Amazonia and the Extraordinary Missionary Month, both of which will be celebrated in October 2019, are two opportunities for evangelization, to put into practice the call to “evangelically renew the mission of the Church in the world.”

This was said by Pope Francis in his message to the National Directors of the Pontifical Mission Societies during their annual General Assembly held last June, informs Agenzia Fides.

The Pope emphasizes the importance of a real “missionary conversion.” It is with this spirit that the theme for the Missionary Month of October 2019 was chosen, as announced by the Pontiff: “Baptized and sent: the Church of Christ on a mission in the world.”

The theme emphasizes that “being sent on mission is a call inherent in Baptism and is for all the baptized,” said Francis.
