God’s call often comes unexpectedly, as it did for the prophet Amos, a humble shepherd and sycamore grower. His story reminds us that God’s choice is not about our qualifications but His purpose. Amos boldly embraced his vocation, proclaiming truth and justice in a world resistant to change.
When a vocation opens up, plans are changed, new encounters take place, and discoveries are made. Fr. Pierpaolo has experienced this and shares some personal thoughts.
The vocation of the prophet Isaiah helps us discover the secret of good discernment: knowing how to contemplate and listen to the voice of the Lord. Faced with God’s irrevocable call, he responds promptly and generously: “Here I am, Lord! Send me!”
Despite his family’s financial constraints, the young Victor worked through college, gaining valuable work experience and joining the seminary. His calling as a missionary took him to Guatemala. Now in the Philippines, he reflects with gratitude on 15 years of missionary and priestly life.

Brother Mario Castro grew up in a family that valued education and hard work. As time passed by, he felt a sense of emptiness until he attended a recollection that led him to his true calling. After years of mission work in Uganda, he is now serving in the Philippines.
Ruth is a Moabite woman, who, after the death of her husband, decided to take care of her mother-in-law and, to do so, abandoned her land and immigrated to Israel. A faithful woman of great faith, she will be a fruitful mother in Israel and will play a fundamental role in salvation history.
Celebrating ten years of priesthood, Fr. Rafael recalls wanting to be a priest since he was a child. After graduating in mechanical engineering, he joined the Comboni missionaries. Currently serving in Macau, he has witnessed the admirable audacity of people who have converted to the faith.
