In his 2025 World Mission Day message, titled “Missionaries of Hope Among All Peoples,” Pope Francis urges every baptized Christian to be a “messenger and builder of hope.”





Habemus Papam! (We have a Pope!) This joyful proclamation was heard on May 8, 2025, from the City of Rome, announcing the election of Pope Leo XIV as the 267th successor of St. Peter.





On February 14, 2025, Pope Francis was admitted to Gemelli Hospital in Rome for the treatment of bronchitis.





At the beginning of each year, the Church observes the World Day of Peace, a moment dedicated to prayer and reflection on the significance of peace in our world.





October is a month in which we pray for the missionary activities of the Church. In 1926, Pope Pius XI established World Mission Sunday to emphasize this purpose. It is celebrated annually prior to last Sunday of October, which this year falls on October 20.


The “Absolute Divorce Act,” also known as House Bill (HB) 9349, was recently passed by the House of Representatives in the Philippines. The aim of this bill is to legalize absolute divorce for couples facing difficult situations in their marriage. If this bill becomes law, divorce will be legal in the Philippines. Bishop Alberto Uy of the Diocese of Tagbilaran has responded to the passing of this bill, stating that divorce destroys the sanctity of marriage as a sacred covenant.


The year 2025 will be a Jubilee Year. In the Catholic Church, jubilees are years of grace and pilgrimage which happen every 25 years.


In 2008, Matisyahu, an American reggae singer, released a song titled “One Day.” Part of the lyrics of the song says: “All my life I’ve been waiting for, I’ve been praying for, for the people to say, that we don’t wanna fight no more, there’ll be no more wars, and our children will play.”
