The vast majority of Catholics do not speak up and act out on behalf of countless suffering brothers and sisters. To go against this “culture of indifference,” believers are called upon to protect and enhance the life and dignity of all human beings.

“Defend life” must be the clarion call of the followers of the God of Life! Because like no other time in history has human life, animal life, plant life, ocean life, life in all forms, and the earth which sustains life, come under fierce human attack.
The best-kept secret is that the Catholic Church is blessed with over 130 years of outstanding social justice and peace documents. Sadly, they attract more dust than readers. Catholic social teaching could become an effective tool for building a just and peaceful world.
Jesus taught us to forgive and pray for our enemies and to reject all kinds of violence and killing. We must call for the abolition of the death penalty because it goes against His teaching.
