The term religious persecution evokes images of Christian blood on Arab sand, or of Muslims in Chinese “re-education camps.” But there are other forms, less discussed but also worrisome, which are becoming more prevalent in the Western world.


The situation in Myanmar is deteriorating day by day. The Burmese Sisters of Reparation, present in the country serving the local populations in the most remote villages, witness the daily suffering and give voice to the tragedy of their people.

Newly-arrived in Sri Lanka, where Catholics represent around 6% of the total population, the Comboni Sisters have taken up the commitment of education. Besides, the missionary nuns are sensitive to the plight of women who are exploited in the tea industry.


For over 40 years, Dr. Steven Muncy has dedicated his life to serve displaced and persecuted people. As one of the recipients of the 2021 Ramon Magsaysay Award, he is being recognized for his unshakable belief in the goodness of man that inspires in others the desire to serve.


The Comboni Missionaries heeded the appeal of the Church to come to Asia, the least evangelized continent. They are working in Missionary Animation, Vocation Promotion, and Basic Formation in the Philippines and Vietnam, while in Macau and Taiwan, they focus on First Evangelization.
